The Greatest Gift: Victory NextGen Christmas Production 2021

Dear Parents,

We are so excited to get started on preparations for our Victory NextGen Christmas Production. Similar to last year, all ages will participate in the play. Our Edge Youth students have filled roles for the main cast and our younger children will have a group performance along with a finale song. The play is set in a school setting with a “Christmas Talent Show” in the second half, this is when we will bring in our groups to perform. The children will wear a Christmas T-shirt for the play, please provide the size at your time of registration. Cost for the shirt is $10, if you need assistance with this cost, please let us know and we can ask for sponsors.

Performance descriptions are below according to grade level. There are links included for the songs we will be performing so that you can practice with your child at home as well.

PreK – 3rd Grade: This group will perform the first act of the “talent show”, a video will be shown that is a narrated Christmas Story https://youtu.be/0kmMAW-VdnA. As the story is narrated, the children will walk up to the stage and “act out” the narration. Following the reading of the story, a song will be played and the children will sing and dance on stage. https://youtu.be/8ZwbPxufezk We have costumes for this scene already from last year’s play. As children are signed up for the play, we will assign their role/costume and notify you. At the end of the play, all the children will return to the stage for the finale song  https://youtu.be/zR-yoi2anzw wearing their Christmas Play T-shirt.

PRACTICE: We will be practicing these songs during Sunday class time, but please help us out by also playing them at home and encouraging your kids to learn them because time is short. This group will practice their act on Sunday, December 5th, immediately following second service (this will be their only practice together before dress rehearsal. Also, see the rehearsal schedule below for the final practices.

4th-6th Grade: This group will perform the second act of the “talent show”, this group’s theme is about giving and they will do a presentation using the letters in the word Christmas. Students who are comfortable with speaking will be given a few lines to say what their letter stands for and they will be able to read it on the back screen (do not have to be fully memorized). If you have a child who does not want to speak, they can still stand with the group. After reciting the letters, they will sit on the steps and we will play a video showing them serving others (we will have a few serving opportunities where we will video them serving) with the song, “Give this Christmas Away”. We would like for them to sing along with the song, https://youtu.be/9BVGkb5bxRY. At the end of the play, all the children will return the stage for the finale song  https://youtu.be/zR-yoi2anzw wearing their Christmas Play T-shirt.

PRACTICE: We will be practicing these songs during Sunday & Wednesday class time, but please help us out by also playing them at home and encouraging your kids to learn them because time is short. Also, see the rehearsal schedule below for the final practices.

7th-12th Grade: We have already had auditions and the cast has been notified. This group will be practicing a little more because of the memorization and acting involved, they have received their schedule. If you have a student who wants to participate backstage (props, costumes, spotlight), please sign them up so we can talk with them.
